Question 1: If I contract with you to photograph my wedding will you be my photographer?

Answer: I will be your photographer. I have been photographing weddings for 12 years now and have been the photographer for every wedding that I've contracted.

Question 2: How many photographers do you come with?
Answer: Typically I come with a three-person team. I will be the main photographer taking all of your portraits, group shots, any many of the photojournalistic shots of your day. My second photographer will handle most of your 'still life shots' and will then focus entirely on capturing the candid and journalistic moments that occur around me while I am working as well as looking for moments occurring in different places.

If you are having a smaller wedding, a wedding where everything will occur at the same location or simply have a smaller budget I can provide excellent coverage shooting by myself.

Question 3: How would you describe your style?
Answer: Most of the shots we will take on your wedding day will be photojournalistic in style. We will also do some beautiful portraits for you as well as shoot the various bridal party, family and group shots you wish to have.

Question 4: What is the difference between a photojournalistic shots and a 'candid shot'?
Answer: A photojournalistic shot is simply a photograph taken of a person who has no idea their picture is being taken...a photograph that captures a real, honest moment of your day. When I hear the word 'candid' I think of a shot of people having fun and I also think of people 'mugging for the camera'. A good photojournalistic photographer will capture the full range of emotions on your wedding day...the fun, the laughter, the joy, the excitement as well as the sadness and tears of a father walking his daughter down the aisle to 'give her away'.

Question 5: How many pictures do you take?
Answer: We will take between 500-800 photos the day of your wedding. We obviously take more shots if there are two photographers shooting over the course of a 10 or 12 hr. day as opposed to one photographer covering a smaller wedding in one location for seven hrs.

Question 6: Do we get proofs or a web site and can we keep the proofs?
Answer: You will receive a slide show presentation on the day of your wedding, a web site for three months and a proof album that you can keep.

Questions 7: What sets you apart from other studio’s?
Answer: Many things. Personal service for one. I usually put at least 40 hrs. into every wedding I do. I only take 12 to 15 weddings a year which allows me to give each bride the personal attention that I feel she needs.

The quality and experience of the people who will be assisting me the day of your wedding exceeds that of most other studios. Their backgrounds are extensive and diverse and include work in the professional still life industry, fashion, portraiture, magazine and newsprint journalism. We also have a production meeting before we leave the studio the day of your wedding so everyone knows the flow of your day and is fully aware of their responsibilities.
Beside the additional photographer who will be shooting along with me I also bring an assistant that will help to organize all of your groups, put together your wedding day slide show presentation and will assist me in any way I need. This allows me to spend more of my time shooting.

Also, I include a complimentary engagement photo session in every shooting package. I feel this is important as it allows us to get to know one another a little better before the wedding day. It also allows me to see how you photograph together.

Question 8: Do you shoot film or digital and how will I know what’s best for me?
Answer: I still have my film cameras and would be happy to shoot in that format for you if you wish. I've offered both film and digital for the past 3 years and all brides, with the exception of two, wanted digital. The quality of the cameras and the finished prints is every bit as good as film and don't let anyone tell you different. Digital is a more accessible means of working in the 21st century.

Question 9: How long does it take to get our proofs, web site and albums?
Answer: Proofs take approximately six weeks to receive and web sites usually take 3-4 weeks. Albums take approximately 4 months to complete from the day we do the design and layout. We do our best to get everything to you as fast as possible without jeopardizing quality.

Question 10: How do you determine which photos will be in color and which will be in black & white?
Answer: If we shoot using film we will discuss this in detail prior to your wedding day and tailor the percentage of color and ‘black & white’ to fit your taste. If we shoot digitally you can determine this afterwards when it is time to order your prints and albums.

Question 11: How many cameras do you bring?
Answer: More than I need. I have back up’s for every piece of equipment I use.

Question 12: What about the negatives or hi-res DVD’s?
Answer: Digital files, or negatives, are available at no additional charge two years following your wedding as long as your albums and print orders have been completed. Just call and I'll ship them.

Question 13 : What type of pricing do you have?
Answer: Shooting fees for smaller affairs or that have just one photographer start around $3500. For those affairs that require two photographers fees start around $4500. All shooting fees include an engagement photo session.

Question 14: How do we put together the album, order reprints etc..
Answer: You deal with this aspect of the process later, once you are out from under the initial expense of your wedding day. Albums are the final and most exciting part of the process. When we're done you'll have a gorgeous, exciting album that fully documents your day with all the beauty, emotion and fun that everyone had. I will help you with the image selection and design process. Again, albums take approximately 4 months to receive from the day we complete the design.
